The Latest Scoop

Mike's Batmobile

Mike's Batmobile

Hey friends!

It’s been a while since I’ve sent a newsletter – but that’s just because there has been so much going on, it’s hard to find time to sit down and collect my thoughts. Sometimes it is hard to juggle having a career, while being a mother and a wife. But I don’t mind – its been a lot of fun!

A few weeks ago, I received a call from the editors of Hot Rod Magazine, asking me if I would like to do another photo shoot. This time, though, it wasn’t for Hot Rod Deluxe, but for Hot Rod itself. I was thrilled, and I can’t describe how happy I was to get the chance since I owe so much of my success in the automotive industry to this magazine! The shoot was at Pure Vision, a totally cool shop in Simi Valley, Calif. They do restorations and customization, but really there cars are much more than just restored and customized. Check out their website to see what I mean.

After that shoot, we had our first Velocity Magazine TV shoot at the Coastline Classic car show in Corona Del Mar. The setting was awesome – right on the beach in the harbor. It wasn’t a very big show, but they had a great range of cars, and we were able to interview a few owners of some very cool cars – including the proud new owner of the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman movie.

This past weekend, we had another shoot for Velocity at the OC Autoshow. This was a really different shoot, because Velocity focuses on classic and custom vintage cars and everything at the OC Autoshow was about new cars. But there were a few cars there that caught our attention – the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 from our friends at Orange County Lamborghini was my favorite! I might never get to own one but at least they let me sit in it!

That’s quick rundown of the past couple of months, but we still have a lot to get through before the year is out. We’re working on our plans for 2009, but I hope to have some exciting stuff to announce before the year is out.

See you all soon!

Hottest ESPN Employed Mom – Genevieve Chappell!

Bruce Pearl would do more than just brush the shoulder of this mom.

There have been multiple versions of Hottest Sideline Reporters, Hottest ESPN Reporters, Would You Tournaments, etc. But we’ve yet to see a single “Hottest ESPN Employed Mom” competition.

Until now.

And we are going straight to the top. Grade A. If you are employed by ESPN and would like to enter send us some portfolio shots.

Otherwise this contest is officially over.

Meet Genevieve Chappell, the host of ESPN’s Garage Block, a show about muscle cars.
Ms. Chappell (bio here) is married to a hockey playing husband, has managed to give birth and have this amazing body snap back into shape.

We salute her for being a working mother who doesn’t only depend on her husband for shopping money.

This woman actually goes out into the field to shake hands with greasy car geeks and dirt bike riders.

It’s official…Erin Andrews might have to take a back seat to Ms. Chappell.

Gasoline Alley Classic & Custom Car Show

Nestled in Santa Ana’s Business District, is a unique and eclectic eatery called Original Mike’s.

Two Sundays out of the month Mike throws a big ol’ party for us Car Enthusiasts – it’s called Gasoline Alley Classic & Custom Car Show.

Gasoline Alley is a newer event, yet, one of OC fastest growing car shows.
In just two months we’ve seen the number of contenders go from 30 to well over 100 – and its no wonder – with free registration, coffee and donuts in the morning. Then a live band and good eats for under $10.00 in the afternoon…not to mention chattin’ it up with local car enthusiasts while surrounded by tons of sweet rides. What more could you ask for?

Once a magnificent Buick dealership in 1919 – is now Original Mike’s a sprawling eatery, bar, and nightclub. Unlike any other restaurant in OC, it’s also an automobile museum as well as one of Santa Ana’s most popular live music venues. Diners have the choice of eating in the exhibit space amongst the museum’s vintage cars or outside on the 120 seat patio. The locals say “the ambiance is instantly appealing and certain to delight at every turn.”
