Host of ESPN’s Garage Block
During a successful career as a television personality, host, and correspondent, Genevieve Chappell has reported on a wide range of sports – from interviewing numerous star athletes from the NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB, to the madness of the WWE, to being a TV host for large events such as the Vans Triple Crown of Motocross and the X-Games. Little did she know, however, that a phone call in May of 2006 from ESPN executives would soon have her rocketing down the quarter-mile at Bristol Motor Speedway!The call from ESPN led Chappell to explore a different world – the world of hot rods, muscle and classic cars – when she became the host of ESPN2’s most popular automotive lifestyle shows; Bidding Wars and Mothers Polish, on the weekend Garage Block. She is the first female ever to host Mother’s Polish, an automotive version of American Idol with its own celebrity judges. Because of her role as host on both shows, she has enjoyed an explosion in popularity and earned the title ‘Queen of Cars.’
But it wasn’t a new world for Chappell. As a youth, her family moved a few miles from Orange County to Whittier, Calif. – a neighborhood where car culture was a dominant factor. It was her first experience in the man’s world of car customization.
“While living in Whittier, I got a first-hand look at what went into car customization, and learned a lot about custom cars and low riders,” says Chappell. “By watching our neighbors and friends build these cars, I came to appreciate all of the details and design that go into those works of art.”
Her appreciation has expanded in the two years that she has spent behind the microphone at Mothers Polish and Bidding Wars events. She has been fortunate to work with the likes of drag racing legend Don Garlits, Rad Rides by Troy designer Troy Trepanier, as well as co-hosts Bill Stephens, Stephen Cox, and Sports Car Market’s Keith Market.
Chappell is not only seen at car shows and auctions. Her career has also included several non-automotive projects, hosting numerous travel, lifestyle, and action sports shows. But her automotive portfolio continues to expand, as she was also selected to host the Russo and Steel Collector Car Auction, as well as Bonhams & Butterfields Motorcycle Memorabilia Auction. Both will air on Treasure HD throughout 2008, while Russo and Steele will also air on ESPN’s networks.
Her crisp, conversational, and friendly style instantly puts her interview subjects at ease and allows her easy access and acceptance into the ‘boys club’ of big time sports, automotive, and racing culture. Chappell’s keen interest in and ability to discuss sports and automotive extends to her personal life as well. Her athletic pursuits include: ice hockey, roller hockey, mountain biking, ocean sports, weight training, horseback riding western style, snowboarding, golf, and even bowling. She also volunteers with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, National Breast Cancer Foundation, and Inner City Kids focusing youth literacy.

BIDDING WARS
Coverage for the much of this thirteen (13) week series will take place at the annual Auburn Classic Car Auction, the largest and oldest vintage car auction event in the world, held every fall in Auburn, IN. Some of the most valuable vehicles in the world will cross the block here. Run by renowned auction house Kruse International, hundreds of cars will sell for millions of dollars, with over 7,000 cars being viewed by the 150,000 spectators
attending the 480-acre auction grounds. Classics, exotics, muscle cars and hot rods will compete for attention against incredibly rare, one-off cars; there’s virtually a guarantee of something for everyone.
BONHAMS & BUTTERFIELDS
For motorcycle enthusiasts, the names Von Dutch and Stan Betz are legendary. Their innovation and dedication to these two-wheeled machines have forever made them significant influences in the motorcycle industry. So imagine the excitement generated when Bonhams & Butterfields auctioned the personal collections of these two men! It’s the hottest sale of the coolest bikes, gear, and memorabilia, from the world-famous Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California.

BIDDING WARS RETURNING FOR SECOND SEASON
Bidding Wars, the highest rated program in the ESPN Garage Block will return for it’s second season on ESPN2 during the second and third quarter of 2008. This thirteen (13) week series will highlight the intense, behind the scenes “Bidding Action”, which took place at the 37th Annual Auburn (IN) Kruse Fall Collector Car Auction, the largest and oldest vintage car auction event in the world.
Bidding Wars takes a look at the people who participate in the collector car auctions. From ring men to the bidders, from the auctioneers to the grinders, Bidding Wars captures the quick paced action as “titles change hands in a matter of minutes” in some very hotly contested auctions.
Noted motorsports reporter and driver, Stephen Cox will be your host for the television series, and Co-Hosts Genevieve Chappell and Griff Allen will provide ringside reporting, interviews and commentary.
