Biography

Geneveive Chappell first learned what adrenaline was when, at four years old, she traveled down the highway in the passenger seat of her parent’s red ’68 Chevy Camaro. Instantly, she knew it was something special.

Fast forward to her teen years it was a lowrider cruising down her street in Whittier, California that sparked a life-long love affair with the automobile for Chappell. Genevieve’s neighborhood was full of families that had garages that were always open – as they had cars that were being painted, channeled, lowered, and hot-rodded. Each time a car was finished and went for its first trip down the street, there was something magnetic about it that drew her in. She hadn’t realized it yet, but she was now a car nut.

Since then, Genevieve has become one of the most recognized television hosts and personalities in the automotive and motorsports industry. Beginning in May of 2006, Genevieve became the first female host of ESPN’s Bidding Wars and Mothers Polish Car Show Series on ESPN’s Garage block. She also hosted Mothers Polish Car Show Competition, In the Driver’s Seat, and Russo and Steele’s Collector Car Auction Series for the network. The shows, reached over 9.2 million households, and instantly made her the face of ESPN’s automotive programming, which earned her the nickname ‘ The Queen Of Cars.’

Her other automotive credits include numerous shows, such as Lucas Oil Off-Road Series, Lucus Oil Motorsports Hour and Lucus Oil On The Edge on SPEED Channel. Along with many automotive and motorsports programs on Versus, Treasure HD, Outdoor Channel, ION. In 2009 she created, produced, and hosted an online series based on the car culture in Southern California for Velocity TV, which had over three million views within a couple of months. Chappell has hosted more automotive and motorsports programming than any other female in the industry.

Through her television production duties, Genevieve has been thrilled to work with automotive legends such as Don Garlits, Troy Trepanier, Steve Strope, John Force and family, Chip Foose, Dennis Gage, Glen Bator, the crew from Hot Rod Magazine and many other notables. She has cultivated a reputation in the automotive industry as being “just one of the guys” easy to work with, knowledgeable, and professional – but above it all, a true gear-head with an infectious enthusiasm for automobiles.

Genevieve’s career garnered much press and attention in 2008 – as she was featured in Hot Rod, Hot Rod Deluxe, Car Craft, Velocity Magazine, a variety of automotive DVD’s and numerous non-automotive press. She served as the Grand Marshall of the Great Pottsville Cruise (with SPEED Channel’s, My Classic Car host, Dennis Gage) and was one of the first women to ever call a Kruse International Classic Car Auction.

“I consider myself truly blessed that I am able to work in this industry,” said Chappell. “Not only because I get to work around beautiful cars and high powered machines all the time, but because I work with great people that I share a passion with. There’s nothing else I’d rather be doing and I hope I can continue to do this for a long time.”

When Genevieve is not working in front of the camera she volunteers with a number of groups and charities and as a counselor to women and children in halfway homes.

Bidding Wars

Coverage for the much of this thirteen (13) week series will take place at the annual Auburn Classic Car Auction, the largest and oldest vintage car auction event in the world, held every fall in Auburn, IN. Some of the most valuable vehicles in the world will cross the block here. Run by renowned auction house Kruse International, hundreds of cars will sell for millions of dollars, with over 7,000 cars being viewed by the 150,000 spectators attending the 480-acre auction grounds. Classics, exotics, muscle cars and hot rods will compete for attention against incredibly rare, one-off cars; there’s virtually a guarantee of something for everyone.

Russo & Steele Classic Car Show Auction – Arizona

Bidding Wars returning for a second season

Bidding Wars, the highest rated program in the ESPN Garage Block will return for it’s second season on ESPN2 during the second and third quarter of 2008. This thirteen (13) week series will highlight the intense, behind the scenes “Bidding Action”, which took place at the 37th Annual Auburn (IN) Kruse Fall Collector Car Auction, the largest and oldest vintage car auction event in the world.

Bidding Wars takes a look at the people who participate in the collector car auctions. From ring men to the bidders, from the auctioneers to the grinders, Bidding Wars captures the quick paced action as “titles change hands in a matter of minutes” in some very hotly contested auctions.

Noted motorsports reporter and driver, Stephen Cox will be your host for the television series, and Co-Hosts Genevieve Chappell and Griff Allen will provide ringside reporting, interviews and commentary.
